A1989 820-00850 right fan spinning high minor water damage

    A1989
    board number 820-00850

    Slight water damage

All is working now accept de right Fan is spinning full speed
Even when only the magsafe connected (without booting the machine)
the fan start spinning full speed

if booted i can see a kernel panic taking 300%
    and the machine is slow

So all looks like a missing sensor
But i can not see which sensor is missing ....

Also tried to slow down the fan using Fan Control software
But this is not accepted by the machine
The software setting is overruled by the machine and fan speed stays at max !

Have you tried another fan to rule out the possibilities of it being faulty?

Use iStat, maybe you can find it.

What does the self-test say? After startup press D.

Self test says : SMC error

so i see this as extra pointer towards a missing sensor.

Good. If only one fan spins then you can also have tacho PWM / speed signal issues as well related to the malfunctioning fan. In my opinion if one temp or current sensor fails then both fans malfunction.

Re: A1989 820-00850 right fan spinning high minor water damage

i have looked and measured on the PWM signals as well
    No shorts there

Customer was stressing and wanted the unit back

    So repair is stopped
He will return after his work is saved externally
