    Re: 820-3462-A no green light

I had a DC in board that tricked me, it was a 2011 MBP. The duo diode was blown and it prevented the SYS_ONEWIRE signal to pass to charger. But it is rare on Retina models that the DC in board would...

    Re: 820-3462-A no green light

Try a different DC in board.
To get a green light on a charger, you must have a pp3v42_g3h line and SMC that is communicating with charger.
Without that, the laptop will not boot, even if you have...

Re: 820-2915 Split Screen works on external

Try reflowing the gmux chip, be sure to remove all the epoxy around the edges first.

If tapping on the gmux area does anything, then it is most likely broken solder balls on the gmux, at least...
  4. Re: 820-2915 cpu running at a constant 800mhz

I had the same situation when the customer replaced the battery and the battery was a knockoff fake one.
Replaced it with a "better" one, and it suddenly ran fast. This was on 820-2915. Try...

    Re: A1502 820-3476 strange bahaviour

Fan should be off until the temperature reaches 65-70 deg. C. Then it should start, but initially run slowly. If it goes full blast, then you most likely have a problem somewhere.

    See if you are...

    Re: A1502 820-3476 strange bahaviour

Nice! This is quite a common fault on liquid damaged boards, sometimes also when ISL dies takes few of these resistors with.

And yes, for the 0201 size components you almost require a microscope...

    Re: A1502 820-3476 strange bahaviour

C7005 is NO STUFF, so it means it should be missing from the final board version.

You have problems with the PPBUS_G3H

Check current sense resistors near the U7100.
    These would be:
    R7121...

    Re: A1502 820-3476 strange bahaviour

Well, first check the PPBUS_G3H voltage. Do this with the battery disconnected.

    Any history on liquid damage?
  9. Re: Hynix H5TQ2G83BZR RAM chip, where to get it?

I got a very similar chip Hynix H5TQ2G83BFR, I installed it, but it doesn't work.

So I need to get the Hynix H5TQ2G83BZR.

    Did you get anywhere further?

Was it 8 or 16GB board?

  12. Hynix H5TQ2G83BZR RAM chip, where to get it?

I just found a bad mem chip on a 820-3023 board, which I don't have.
It is a H5TQ2G83BZR-H9C Hynix part.

Looked up on eBay, nothing. Only on aliexpress, but they are selling a bundle of 5 for...

    Re: 820 - 3332 ram issue

I just diagnosed one 820-3023 board that had 3 beeps at boot, but sometimes it showed a picture.
The PP0V75_S0_DDRVTT was reading only 0.24-0.4V and it had 5-90 ohms to ground depending on the...

    Re: 820 - 3332 ram issue

This is going to be a hard one. Perhaps try to increase a voltage a bit, but don't exceed the usual voltage on that rail (I forgot what is it supposed to be at the moment).

    I would leave it...

Re: 820-3208 - axg vcore missing

The SPI signal is noisy at first few seconds, as the EFI code is read by the PCH, so I think that is OK.

But it could be a bad PCH or even bad CPU.

It could be also something totally else, of...
  16. Re: 820-3115 power button only works with smc bypass

My first bet would be a defective SMC.

But before that, check SMC_ONOFF_L what is happening when you press the key. It might also be just a bad keyboard.

    Any corrosion?

    Re: 820 - 3332 ram issue

When the machine is running, touch each of the memory chips, and see if anyone is getting warmer than the others.
Otherwise, inject some voltage into MEM_A_A<13> and see what is getting warm.

    Re: 820 - 3332 ram issue

    Sorry, read it too fast.

    Re: 820 - 3332 ram issue

Run ASD and report if any errors are found.

Otherwise, it might be crap underneath the CPU or intermittent / bad RAM chip.
If any of the liquid was near the RAM, change the chips in the vicinity....

Re: 820-3208 - axg vcore missing

It might chime, but I think it really needs to be a 3208. SMCs are the same.

Try to find a EFI dump somewhere and reprogram it.
  21. Re: 2011 MacBook Pro 15''/17'' GPU disable with no HW mods

    Well, I spoke too soon.

I initially thought that this mod would provide the brightness +/- controls, but, now after it was released, it in fact doesn't. Also, I thought it was going to be free....

Re: 820-3208 - axg vcore missing

I am not 100% sure when the PPVCORE_S0_AXG should come on, but I guess it should be on at boot.
But if you are getting USB mouse to light up, then the board is more or less alive, at least to some...
  23. Re: 820-2610 runs on Lion but crashes on Mountain Lion

Use low heat and heat up the G9600 core up a bit.
No more than 250 deg. C, as it is very easy to destroy these chips with too much heat.

If it works, then it is the best thing to get a new GPU...
  24. Re: 820-2610 runs on Lion but crashes on Mountain Lion

GMUX needs to be taken off the same donor board. It is a programmable FPGA chip (like SMC), so it needs to be the same.
In this case, you might be able to get it off the 15'' inch model board that...
  25. Re: 820-2610 runs on Lion but crashes on Mountain Lion

Well it could be GPU, but I only had issues with these boards when the 9600M was glitching up.
    Worked fine on 9400M.

And I know for a fact of a board that had heatgunned 9600M chip that got...
